Experienced and trained copywriter with additional skills in photography and video

You are a product of the life you have led. It is a fairly obvious statement but one that rings true in all walks of life.

It is why motivational speakers always tell you to take everything you have learnt from your successes and failures and use that in your next endeavour.

I’m here writing and creating because of the life I have led. A life filled with success, failure, chance, risk, travel, technology, words, images, sport, passion, wanderlust and family.

The words are out there.

I just put them in an order that is financially rewarding.

The above quote is from a scene in Modern Family (which I love) and tells you in a nutshell what copywriting is for. Copy that sells.

my garden office

My Name is Elton and I spend my days as a copywriter working in my camera design inspired garden office in Farnborough (40-mins from London), which doubles as a photo studio, writers den and popcorn filled home cinema.

The ocean and water inspire me (you’re realising why I chose the Liquid Copywriting name now), so you may also find me working down in the Witterings, Chichester where we have a static home close to the beach.

Continuing the theme, I’m also a true sucker for waterparks, but you’ll never find me working whilst at one.

I‘ve worked in content all my life. Before I even arrived at school, I was creating, writing, photographing, videoing. I hung out of an RAF helicopter on manoeuvres taking photographs when I was thirteen. Crazy, yes, but insanely fun.

I had my first poem published at fourteen and received the princely sum of 28p from Penguin Publishers. I still have the cheque. My best man even went as far as dressing up as a penguin at my wedding to deliver aforementioned supersized cheque to a bemused audience.

I studied photography and film making, worked on TV and film sets, worked in advertising in the dot-com bubble years. I learnt marketing the hard way by running my own business for fifteen years. Travelled throughout the UK and Europe, camera in hand photographing one special day after another.

  • I started a family, the best experience of all.
  • Travelled and inevitably worked in travel.
  • Manage and create the content on 3 travel sites with combined page views of over 1.5m per month.
  • Build small websites from scratch on WordPress.
  • Create brand names and slogans.
  • Write blogs, articles, social posts, ads, releases, scripts and pages and pages of web content.
  • Learnt SEO and made it a friend, but not the be-all and end-all of content.
  • Photograph professionally with various awards and publications to my name.
  • Play sport.
  • Write children’s books about a scruffy dog and a mole named Martha.
space in a jar

I listen to Hans Zimmerman whilst I work. I’m fascinated by space and will relentlessly listen to the Interstellar soundtrack. One Hundred Days of Solitude and The Right Stuff are my two favourite books (if pushed for just two).

I love The Secret Life of Walter Mitty film. Because it reminds me of the great motto of Life Magazine and of life in general.

“To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel.”

I take everything I have learnt and experienced and use it to create great content. And if I have not experienced it yet, I’ll research it and learn it until I can.

I’m a trained and experienced copywriter. I’m also a content writer, SEO writer, author, photographer/compositor and videographer. I’m not a jack of all trades, although on paper it seems I could be. I’m a focussed individual who excels in copywriting but can offer much more besides.

sparkler in ocean

Above all, I use creative and interesting ideas to help businesses be found in the vast sea of information.

Holding up a sparkler and hoping to be seen or maintain interest is not going to do it.
